Due to exhaustion we slept late however rose with enough time to enjoy a greek lunch. We checked in at the office to met the owner however there was a sticky sign on the door that said “back in 10 minutes”. Deciding that we would wait the 10 minutes we headed off to the market to pick up some provisions for the week. We purchased a selection of goodies including Greek Yogurt, wine, cheese, turkey, wine, jam, honey, wine and some fresh juice. We returned with our shopping to the office about 15 minutes later to find a sign on the door that said “back in 10 minutes” so we decided that perhaps we missed the owner so we decended (SC: 84) to put our shopping away and return about 20 minutes later to meet the owner (SC: 126).
The owner was still not in so we decided to eat lunch at the blue roof resturant (Thalami) which was an excellent choice as it served an excellent greek traditional menu (and some more english dishes too which we did not order off). I had Chicken, Cheese and mushrooms which was frickin awesome, Jill had part of an Octopus which I think may have just been moving before it was served up.
After finishing off a nice bottle of house wine and with full bellies we decided to look for the owner again. Success!! He was in, we introduced ourself and started planning the week. Rose (the owner) suggested a few resturants in Oia and some outside of Oia that would offer a good selection of Greek cuisine. We marked them all down on the very shoddy map.
In addition to resturants and good places to swim we scoped out a boat trip around the island and a good trustworthy place to rent a car.
When then headed down (SC: 168) to have a bit of a rest up and create a plan of attack for the “relaxing” part of the honey moon.
After a period of a few hours we decided to try one of Roses suggestions for dinner “Skala” which was below the restaurant that we had lunch in. We got ready and headed up (SC: 210) to Skala. The atmosphere was quite lovely and it had a great view looking down on our villa and the Caldera sea. During dinner we saw our outside door open and close atleast half a dozen times so we were sure that it was possessed by Calderan ghost pirates but after closure inspection we did not actually latch it. Our waiter was quite grumpy however he did provide us with a great meal of Sea Bream (Jill) and I have Kleftiko (Baked Lamb) which was pretty awesome on both accounts.
After looking over a pretty lacking dessert menu we sought out the bakery that was recommended to us. We failed at finding the bakery (we found that out later) and found a different bakery where Jill continued her earlier search for a pastry that she once had back in the states that her Greek lab boss lady made for her. The pastery was called Galapigolious (After the island I think) however sadly the bakery was Fresh Out. Jill instead had a pastry that consisted of some stringy crispy noodle like thing and I had some mint choc-chip ice cream.
We then retired to test the hot tub (SC: 252). The hot tub was awesome and hot, we finished off another bottle of wine to top off the day.
