Day 5 – Farewells and sailing ships

We rose early to get the moat walk in after a quick breakfast. We headed down to walk around the outskirts of the city. After missing the entry at our closest gate twice we walked almost the entire wall before we found a way into the moat. We then proceeded to find all these cave like holes into the inner moat and inner wall that was NOT an exit no matter no much you squeezed up paths that were clearly the den of some creature. After walking around to our gate (gate 6 by the graffiti on the wall) we stalked two other moat walkers and found the exit.

Earlier we missed the library so we decided to head there, sadly it was just one room with pictures of the books rather than the books themselves so we quickly returned to start packing up as our time in Rhodes had drawn alarming close to being over.

We headed out for one final lunch at a place called La Somethingoranother which specialized in seafood. After the waiter dropped my Freedo Cappichino we order Salmon and veal. Jill’s veal was underwealming due to its dryness and absence of flavor however my salmon was super tasty  We sat and chatted for a while to the entertainment of a cat trying to figure out just how he or she was going to get to this bird in a cage which was ultimately thawted by the waiters quick “HIiisisssss”.

The remainder of the day until 3:30pm was spent chatting with Marianne about Rhodes, children, Australia, politics, laundry, her birthday, our wedding and general chit chat.

Jill and I were both very sad to leave Rhodes.

Words can only partially describe and pictures only partially depict the beauty of this island. We are now on a boat heading to Santorini, its dark, there are no sharks or whales and this boat is bloody huge.

  2. Please give us an update! I’m checking back several times a day – the trip sounds wonderful. By the way, the guest book camera was a great idea, so you both get to kick me when you get home. xoxoxox
