Upon arriving home (late as usual) the remainder of the clothes were packed and we made our way to a very poorly marked Delta terminal. 9 hours doesn’t seem like a long time when its written down on paper. We had decided that we would check a bag since it would be easier than rolling around with several little carry ons.
Delta didn’t think that it was such a great idea, the checked bag came in at 56 pounds (55 really if the checking attended didn’t lean on it). The checking attendant quickly informed us that the bag was over weight and that we would have to pay and overweight fee even after I informed her that between the two of us we are only checking one bag. Queue old fashion cash register noise, that will be 100 bucks. I told the checking lady to hold on while I performed some weight modification magic by removing my large shoes and Jill’s large shoes from the bag. 52 pounds, damn still two pounds over but the delta lady could see where this was going and just said “Don’t worry about it”. Bag successfully checked.
Off to Athens we flew. Three movies and some chatting later we arrived in the lovely airport that is anthers international airport (also domestic). We ended up standing in a very long line for a very long time for a very bored immigration officer to say “hello” then stamp both our passports. We then proceeded to check in, go thru security, go back out thru security, back in thru security for our next flight. The flight that got delayed, then cancelled, then delayed then boarded (all in 45 minutes).
Off to Rhodes.
